Cowabunga! Turtle Power! It's Ninja Time! STFU, ME! :D

Jeez... I haven't updated in forever.

Ah, well. Might as well add SOMETHING to this journal. XD

So, I just finished watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series (2003 series; not 1980s one) and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with it. I'd had friends online who were wanting me to watch it for quite some time, so I gave in and acquired the entire series, save for TMNT: Back to the Sewer, which I ended up having to watch on YouTube.

I was skeptical of it at first because 4Kids Entertainment was attached to it as a leading production/distribution company and, having seen what they did to one of my favorite anime series (as well as others), I was certain it'd be complete, kiddie-indulgent crap. I was wrong and I will be the first to admit it. It was the perfect combination of the doom-and-gloom aspects of action/hero shows I watched in the 90s (Batman and Robin, Superman, Justice League, etc.) and the light-hearted goofiness one would catch on the cartoons that air on Nickelodeon.
Me? Cartoon-Nerd rambling? Why, I'd never!Collapse )

In short:
4Kids surprised the hell out of me by helping to make an amazing series. All but one season (purely in my opinion) retain rewatchability, the voice selections were spot-on, and it was an overall pleasant watch. I can't wait for the movie.

The only negative effect of having watched it is that I don't think I'll ever be able to watch the 1980s series again. I'm so used to the personalities and voices of the 2003 series that trying to put up with 80s Raphael just doesn't seem possible. XD

Okay, I'll stop ranting now. Just wanted to vent some of my cartoon-loving. :3

"Skank ho bitch just can't do right.
Needs him some beatin' too."

~Thane ( to the tune of "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" )

Should I be worried about domestic abuse? I've been wanting that Lifetime Movie special starring Valerie Bertinelli for years, so maybe this will be my big break!

Apparently boys grow excessive armpit hair because we are intended to use it to knit a cat.

Thane said it, so it must be true.

Edit: And he got his pubes at Kmart because they were part of a "10% Off" sale.

What a grand day this has been. XDDD

Dear Livejournal,

Thane was totally just singing a Cher song. It was very cute.

Love,
Coon

P.S. - *hugs Chris lots*

P.P.S. - Potatoes. Mmm.

I was awoken no less than thirty minutes ago by the sound of men who, if my hearing is correct, are doing nothing more than stomping and smacking the top of our roof with hammers.

If this doesn't stop soon, not only am I going to have to take my computer downstairs to avoid developing a migraine, but I'm also considering going outside to kick over the ladder those men used to get on our roof in the first place.

Pros:
+ It's running a FABULOUS version of Windows XP Professional. It's so smooth and lovely. <3
+ I can actually hook my external hard drive up to it.
+ I don't experience keyboard/mouse lag.
+ It's my lappy. I missed this little sucker. <3
+ 4 USB 2.0 ports
+ S-Video Port
+ It maintained Wireless internet connectivity (thanks to being cleverly rigged by Chris)

Cons:
- My SD card reader no longer works. After a bit of searching and Safe Mode-ing, I was able to alleviate this problem.
- It's not a laptop anymore. This isn't that big of a deal, seeing as how this issue can be fixed by finding someone trying to scrap a laptop of this type with a good screen.
- One of my hard drives no longer works/shows up in the "My Computer" directory, meaning that one of my 100GB HDs is just chilling out and doing absolutely nothing inside my machine. Wasn't able to find a fix for this issue.
- I seem to be having a hardware issue with something called "HP Integrated Module." I searched, but was unable to figure out a fix for this.

All in all, this thing is going to run a lot better than the other desktop I'm using at the moment. As such, I went ahead and transferred my files from it to here. Of course, this meant fighting tooth and nail with it to get the Workgroup to work. It did for awhile, but it seems to have stopped working again. Ah, well.

It's 3:55am and I've been tinkering around with everything since about 10pm. I reckon that it's about time I tucked in for the night.

Success!

After replacing the RAM (it was running on two 256MB cards and I replaced them with a 1GB and a 512MB one) and the disc drive on this computer, I managed to complete the installation of Windows XP.

Pros:
+ It's much faster. (understatement)
+ I now have support for East Asia languages (no more issues with files not working due to improper file names).
+ It's not Windows 2000.
+ I can customize the appearance.
+ I can actually install programs like Windows Live Messenger and the CURRENT iTunes.

Cons:
- This system and most of its insides are older than dirt. As in: all of the USB ports are 1.1. Due to this (I assume), the wireless optical mouse and the keyboard are having issues with lag (issues that were not present on Win2000). I probably shouldn't hook my external drive up to the ports, though I may test it out nonetheless.
- I can't shut the computer off unless I want to fight with it to turn back on (it actually takes several shots to get it to boot up. I've only started experiencing this since installing XP).

The fact of the matter is that I pushed this system to do something that, part-wise, I probably shouldn't have. It's working, but there's not a doubt in my mind that it will crap out eventually, lest I start replacing parts. This system seems to have been built/upgraded specifically to run Windows 2000 and XP is just a bit too advanced for that.

In other news, Chris finished up with repairs on my laptop. Calling it a laptop isn't really accurate anymore, though. It's more of a... half-top, as he put it. The screen was damaged so extensively that keeping it on simply wasn't an option. So, for the time being, my laptop is a CPU with a keyboard attached (so, when this thing bites the dust, I have a system to leap to!).

Oh, dear...

I apparently live in "The House Where Computers Go To Die."

+ My laptop begins having troubles and finally craps out.
+ My fiance's computer begins having trouble with the video card and finally dies.
+ Our roommate's computer shut itself off inexplicably and refuses to turn back on. (We had a storm the other night that knocked out our power several times in a row; we presume this caused electrical damage to his computer)

This all happened within a span of about a month and a half. The only working computer in our house now is the one I'm typing this post up on.

I believe we have all done something to make karma act out against us.  :U

Dear Livejournal,

Thane plowed me like a field.

Love,
*sparkle* Coon ~<3 *twinkle*

P.S. - Writing letters is fun!

P.P.S. - Apparently I am sensitive to the sound of a dog whistle. Thane played it and my ears felt like they were going to bleed. WTF? D:
